Best Claude Code skills for frontend

Agents write working UI and generic UI. A frontend skill is a set of design decisions made once, so every page follows them. These are the ones in the ProSkills catalog, with the real text of the free one and the scan score of each.

How we picked

  • It changes the output in a way you can see in one session.
  • It sets concrete values (4px steps, a 1.25 type ratio), not advice like "make it clean".
  • It is small enough to load without crowding your context.
  • It passes the scanner with no critical finding.

Only ProSkills skills are listed, because they are the ones we can inspect and score. We do not rank skills we have not read.

Spacing, type scale, one accent. Loads when the user builds or restyles any UI. About 951 tokens when it triggers, 83 always loaded.

Its trigger text, as shipped
Use when the user builds, restyles, reviews or says a UI \"looks off\", \"generic\" or \"needs polish\": pages, components, dashboards, landing pages. Sets a spacing grid, type scale and single accent before writing any CSS, then enforces them in the code. Reads profile.md for brand, accent colour, vibe and framework.
The workflow, as shipped
## Workflow

1. Write a token block first: spacing, type scale, colours, radius. Show it in five lines before any component.
2. Spacing: multiples of 4px only (4, 8, 12, 16, 24, 32, 48, 64, 96). Use `gap` in flex and grid layouts instead of margins between siblings.
3. Type scale: choose a ratio and keep it. Default 1.25: 14, 16, 20, 25, 31, 39, 49. Body text is 16px minimum with 1.5 line height; headings use 1.1 to 1.2 line height and slightly negative tracking at 32px and above. Use at most two font families and three weights.
4. Colour: derive neutrals from one hue, tinted toward the accent by a few percent. The accent covers at most about 10 percent of any screen. Text against its background must reach 4.5:1 contrast, large text 3:1.
5. Layout: one primary action per view. Content width for reading text is 60 to 75 characters. Align to a column grid and keep gutters equal.
6. States: every interactive element has default, hover, focus-visible, active and disabled. Touch targets are at least 44px.
7. Build the component, then audit it against the rules below and fix before showing.
What it bans by default
## Banned unless the user asks

- Gradients, including gradient text and gradient buttons.
- Heavy drop shadows; use a 1px border or one soft shadow at low opacity.
- More than one accent colour.
- Margins used for spacing between siblings.
- Off-scale values like 13px or 22px.
- Centered body text in blocks longer than three lines.
- Never use filler text; write real copy for every element.

Check any frontend skill before you install

Paste its SKILL.md into the scanner. A good frontend skill should score 80 or more, state its values, and never touch files outside your project. Not sure what to check? The security checklist has twelve items.

Questions

What does a frontend skill actually change?
It gives the agent decisions it would otherwise guess: a spacing unit, a type scale, one accent colour, which defaults to avoid. The output is more consistent because the same rules apply to every component.
Will these work in Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI?
Yes. Each is a standard SKILL.md folder, and one folder in .agents/skills works in Cursor, Codex and Gemini CLI. Claude Code reads .claude/skills. See the install guide for the paths.
Do I need the paid skills?
No. Start with the free one and see whether your output improves. Add a paid skill when you hit the specific problem it targets, such as font pairing or landing page structure.
Why only ProSkills skills?
Because these are the ones we can score and read. We list a skill only when we can show its trigger text and a scan score, and we do not rank skills we have not inspected.
